Some of the things you learn when you are growing up—to be demure, to be “feminine,” to laugh it off or hide in shame when some creep subjects you to sexual harassment, or worse—are deadly serious. But there are other, less weighty instructions, rules that can nevertheless weigh heavily on a young girl’s heart.
Face it, all you glasses wearers—from the time you failed that first eye exam, you were told that your spectacles, the vital accessory that lets you see, literally, what is going on around you, might be cute and frisky under certain sporty circumstances, but will never be considered really, truly attractive. When you grow up and are invited to fabulous galas where you don trillion-dollar gowns (yes, black this season!) and drape yourself with serious jewelry from neck to wrist and especially ears, you’d best leave those glasses in the glove compartment.
